An explosive video hit the web yesterday, showing American Idol female judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj verbally going at each other. The crew was in North Carolina for a standard round of pre-season auditions, when the ladies disagreed on a contestant critique, and the insults started flying left and right. It’s a little tough to understand, so watch the video first and I’ll break it down after. So as you might have heard, Nicki seemed to be taking the defense, repeatedly yelling “get in control, get in control” and don’t lose your head, don’t lose your head.” Mariah seemed peeved by the situation, saying “Oh why, WHYYYY do I have a 3 year old sitting around me? I can’t see my kids because you decided to act like a crazy bitch and go all around the stage.” Then, apparently, things escalated to the point of throwing out DEATH THREATS—TMZ is reporting that in the heat of the argument, Nicki said, “If I had a gun, I would shoot {Mariah}.” Shortly after, production on AI was shut down so the ladies could cool off. Also worth mentioning is that the head honchos on AI and at Fox are pretty upset by all this—they’re also a bit worried about this is going to play out over the course of the show, which films for many weeks.
